Note from the Editor 2016

Since the creation of this journal in 2008, we have made substantial progress in becoming a well known and established journal not only among Canadian academics but with the general public as well.  Our commitment to being online and open access for all interested readers is a benefit to everyone as readers can access up-to-date research and commentaries on various social, economic, and political issues related to the family.  For authors who have been published, their readership reaches far beyond the walls of academia.  Being published online ensures that their work can be readily available to those from across the country as well as around the world.

Each year, a number of papers are submitted to the journal.  While many are from Canadian scholars from various professorial ranks, we also receive papers from graduate students and from undergraduate students.  Papers are also received from those who live and work in many countries beyond the borders of Canada.  This diversity in perspective allows the journal to be unique, compelling and culturally interesting.  I would like to thank all of those researchers, authors, and co-authors for submitting their work to our journal. We appreciate every paper, book review, commentary, poem and short story that has been submitted.

If you have discovered our journal through an online search or have heard about it through colleagues and have an idea for a paper or book review in mind, please feel free to email me at  I would be happy to hear about your work and discuss your ideas.

As a final note, I would also like to thank David Fischer for his work on publishing the various issues online.  He always does a wonderful job, and his efforts are always appreciated.
