Martha Cleveland-InnesEnglish Editor-in-Chief

Martha Cleveland-Innes, Athabasca University, Canada

Martha is Professor and Program Director, Master of Education Program, Athabasca University. She is the author of The Guide to Blended Learning and instructor, co-designer, and researcher for the open online course Blended Learning Practice.  The 2nd edition of Introduction to Distance Education: Teaching and Learning in a New Era, which she co-edited, has just been released by Taylor & Francis for 2021. She has held major research grants supporting research on the technology-enabled student experience. In 2019 Martha received an Honorary Doctorate from Mid-Sweden University and the Leadership Award from the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education. Her research interest areas include 1) online and blended learning 2) communities of inquiry 3) higher education reform and 4) leadership in education. Sawsen Lakhal, Université de Sherbrooke, Canada

Sawsen is an associate professor at the department of pedagogy of Université de Sherbrooke. She is also the Chair of the research center CRIFPE, UdeS. Since she has been hired at the Université de Sherbrooke, she has received several research grants from SSHRC, FRQSC, and the ministry of education of the province of Quebec as a principal researcher and co-researcher. Her research interests include applications of technology to higher education, online and blended learning, and persistence in distance courses and programs, quantitative methods, and statistical model validation.

Carmen Jensen-TebbManaging Editor

Carmen Jensen-Tebb, Athabasca University, Canada

Carmen is the Project Administrator in Distance Education, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Athabasca University, where she provides support for special projects, collaborations, and the education MOOC offerings of Blended Learning Practice, Technology-Enabled Learning, Learning to Learn Online, and Learning to Learn Online Express. Carmen manages communication with reviewers and authors, as well as incoming manuscript reviews, initial selection of reviewers, copy edit, and manuscript preparation for publication.

Dan WiltonTechnical Editor

Dan Wilton, Athabasca University, Canada

Dan is a doctoral student in distance education at Athabasca University, where he also provides instructional design for massive open online courses, research assistance, and web initiative development including the OER Knowledge Cloud for the Centre for Distance Education in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. His research interests include networks and networked learning, MOOCs, and learning analytics. Dan manages the OJS platform and publishing of issues.

Associate Editors

Kelli Buckreus, BA, MA(IS)

Currently an AU Ed.D student, Kelli works at the University of Alberta in medical/clinical education and research methods training. Kelli has developed continuing education eLearning training programs for clinicians, researchers, health system professionals and policymakers, and curriculum for formal graduate courses. As an academic technologies specialist, Kelli developed immersive learning environments (including 4D simulations) for medical/clinical education. Kelli recently had the opportunity to advise on a project proposal for a Canadian Space Agency initiative to develop AR/VR and AI based modules to train astronauts on the ground and off-world, in conjunction with the Deep Space Gateway and the Mission to Mars.

Jenine Hawryluk

Currently an AU EdD student, Jenine has taught in China, Japan, Korea, and Canada, and has worked as a face-to-face, blended, and online instructor in the field of English as a Second or Other Language and teacher training. As the Director of Training for a non-profit organization, Jenine helped create blended training for TESOL instructors preparing to go overseas to teach English, and most recently has taught academic writing online to students in Lithuania, where she could explore both the synchronous and asynchronous possibilities. Jenine's main interest is pedagogy and teacher training related to TESOL and intercultural education. 

Yi (Lucy) Lu, B.Eng

Currently an AU M.Ed. student, Lucy works in Ontario as a contract Faculty member in the architectural design and construction program. Designing and delivering face-to-face, blended, and online courses, Lucy is learning and incorporating emerging technologies both in architectural design and teaching. Conducting pedagogical research is a passion: her first action research project was to investigate the impact of listening to classical music on student performance. In her spare time, Lucy loves to explore the wonders of the Canadian wilderness through camping, hiking, and canoeing.

Carol Sparkes, PhD., Thompson Rivers University, Canada

As an Instructional Designer, Carol enjoys designing student-centered online courses at Thompson Rivers University, in Kamloops, British Columbia. Carol has studied and worked right across Canada starting in Newfoundland and Labrador. Achieving a PhD (Ed Tech) from Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec has been a recent highlight.
