Abstract

Artwork with accompanying Artist Statement  describing a work that is reflective of the roles of positive leadership in the arts by visual artist, Kurt Nahar. The work is titled "It is what it is" (2019) and is a watercolor and collage on paper.

Author Biography

Kurt Nahar

Kurt Nahar received his art education at the Nola Hatterman Art Academy in Suriname in 1993 and the Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts in Jamaica in 2000-2002. He is currently an art teacher at the Nola Hatterman Art Academy. He has used his art to express his thoughts and emotions on various issues related to questionable social and political circumstances in Suriname and other countries worldwide. He believes that artists have a responsibility to expose their viewers to the social reality. Political injustices, social inequality, the widespread abuse of power and sexuality are among his main themes.
