Abstract

Featured artwork with accompanying Artist's Statement of Aisha Tandiwe Bell. These works represent a new visual manifestation of ideas on the traps of race, sex and class, as well as an exploration of the tools used to navigate, carry and circumvent these traps.

Aisha Tandiwe Bell

Aisha Tandiwe Bell is an American visual artist known for her work that creates myth and ritual through sculpture, performance, video, sound drawing and installation inspired by themes of fragmentation of our multiple identities. Bell holds aBFA and MS from the School of Art, Pratt Institute in New York, as well as a MFA in ceramics from Hunter College in New York. She has also received a NYFA in Performance Art / Multidisciplinary Work.
