Abstract

This poem is written as a personal reflection, and is based on the author’s lived experiences. The poem questions the characteristics and effects of dominant ways of teaching and testing in K-12 public schools in Alberta. The poem concludes with a Call to Action to introduce an emancipatory educational curriculum in schools

Sonia Aujla-Bhullar, University of Calgary

Dr. Sonia Aujla-Bhullar is a Postdoctoral Scholar holding a PhD in Curriculum and Learning from the University of Calgary, Sonia Aujla-Bhullar is a Sik-Punjabi, Canadian woman, scholar, researcher, and educator in Calgary, Alberta. Her past and present work in schools and racialized communities, focuses on anti-racism as an institutional practice.
