Volume 7 is now Live!

2022-09-26

Hello everyone!

As some of you already know, Vol. 7 of INVOKE was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and fell into hiatus. I am happy to announce that this semester Volume 7 has been completed and published. Many many thanks to the work our former editors Angéle Chenard and Freya Hammond-Thrasher, the five authors  Megan Drever, Téa Lewis, Natalie Read, Sunidhi Wadehra, and Waniza Wasi; and all the peer reviewers have done to publish this volume in September 2022. Please enjoy their analyses of Canada’s relationship with justice, death, and discrimination.

INVOKE will now be accepting new or additional submissions for the next volume, so please stay alert for our next call for submissions. INVOKE accepts submissions for a variety of sociological subjects, so please feel free to apply!

As for Vol. 8, submissions open on October 15, 2022. The deadline and publication dates are yet to be determined but expect it to be sometime in December and April respectively. Make sure when you’re submitting to check the Submissions Page under the About section of the INvoke site for a checklist and tips for your manuscripts.

I will also be looking for new team members, volunteers, and reviewers for Volume 8! Please stay alert for a registration form or meeting.

I also wanted to promote that SUSA has started a discord for sociology students! Hopefully, some of you will consider joining and using it as a way to connect with others in the department despite the pandemic. Use this link to join: https://discord.gg/Wdt2zyx.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or queries you might have at jchidieb@ualberta.ca

Best, and Happy Reading,

Jewel
