Language and Literacy Call for Manuscripts for 2021 Pre- Conference Special Issue

2021-06-30

Deadline for Submission: November 17th, 2021, 23:59 MST

Building from the 2021 Language and Literacy pre-conference theme: Literacy Entanglements & Relationality: Time, Space, Place, and Identity, this special issue of Language & Literacy seeks to engage in moving beyond and within entanglement, as well as toward and through evolving relationality, in the various dimensions of time, space, place, and identity. We are informed by an understanding of “literacy”, both broadly and situationally, as the ways in which people make meaning and use language, both written and multimodal, for a range of purposes and in a variety of forms, while navigating different linguistic spheres as well as sociocultural and material contexts.

This call is an invitation to participants from the 2021 Language and Literacy Researchers of Canada pre-conference to share papers developed from this year’s “exquisite conversations”. We seek full papers that address questions such as: with what lenses, theoretical and conceptual, research methods and methodologies, can we better understand contemporary literacies in this pandemic era? How do time, space, place, or identity interact alongside or with language educators or learners as our world’s shift and change? As our everyday is transformed by the pandemic, what “gaps” or “opportunities” emerged? How do educators and parents understand and navigate a continuously changing literacy environment?  We invite papers working with emerging and established research methodologies.

Only submissions from attendees who presented at the LLRC 2021 pre-conference will be considered. Final acceptance is conditional upon anonymized peer-review assessments. Notifications of acceptance will be emailed to selected authors by January 14th, 2022.

The final papers, inclusive of revisions following peer-review, will be due 23: 59 MST, March 11, 2022. The anticipated publication date for the collection is May 2022, to be launched at the 2022 Language and Literacy Researchers of Canada pre-conference.

Please send submissions and inquiries about submissions to llrc2021precon@gmail.com
