Author Biography

Jim Anderson, University of British Columbia

Jim Anderson is a professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education at the University of British Columbia. He worked in the public school system as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, language arts consultant and assistant superintendent. His work in family literacy has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and other agencies. With colleagues, he is currently studying young children's and families' access to and use of digital tools in disadvantaged neighborhoods. He is on the Editorial Boards of several journals and served on the Literacy Research Panel of the International Literacy Association for three years
