Abstract

Analyzing dialects and colloquial speech, this study focuses on four research questions: What are the participants’ attitudes towards dialect and colloquial speech and their usages? Are their language backgrounds reflected in the language attitudes? How are the German sub-standards translated into English? How are the language attitudes reflected (or not) in the translations?
