Abstract

Global warming and environmental degradation have made climate action a twenty-first century imperative. However, the pathway to achieve a greener future has been contested by environmental economists, degrowth theorists, and ecofeminists. Degrowth and ecofeminism oppose the market-based solutions of environmental economics, and each propose a different pathway based on a restructuring of the economy and gender relations, respectively. In this paper I argue that ecofeminism can advance the degrowth project by bringing attention to the gendered nature of the climate crisis.
