Focus and Scope

Spaces  Between is a student-run, student-written, peer reviewed undergraduate journal. This is a forum for undergraduate students to publish research in women’s and gender studies and  feminist research within other disciplines. Spaces Between is wide in scope, and welcomes research that critically engages with gender, sexuality, race, class, (dis)ability, nation, imperialism, colonization, and globalization.

We also welcome creative works that engage with these topics, including poetry, visual art, creative writing, and creative forms of academic research.

We are looking for 300 and 400 level papers that received a minimum grade of A-

Peer Review Process

Spaces Between uses a peer-review system. Everyone who submits an article will be required to review up to two other papers that have been submitted. To ensure the anonymity of both the writers and reviewers, each submitted paper will be assigned an identification number for the review process.

After the first peer-review, conditionally-accepted papers will be returned with suggested changes and edits. At this time, a deadline will be set for final submissions. Once final submissions are received, the journal’s editorial board will determine final acceptance for publication.


Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.



This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
