Author Guidelines

Types of articles we are looking for:

  1. Papers should come from either 3xx or 4xx classes.
  2. Papers must have received a grade of A or higher.
  3. The subject matter must be relevant to political science in some fashion.
  4. There is no strict page limit for papers submitted. However, we would ask you take fellow reviewers into consideration when you submit your paper.
  5. Articles must be accompanied by a short abstract (no longer than a paragraph in length) that gives a brief idea of what the paper is about. Abstracts allow readers to get an idea about what the article is about without reading it.
  6. Although submitted papers may have been written for a specific class, we are looking for articles that will be accessible to those with a more general academic background; authors may want to expand upon their introductions and include more explanatory detail.
  7. Submissions should be the author’s own original work and should not have been previously published.

Articles should be formatted as follows:

  1. Submissions should be formatted as either .doc or .rtf (no PDFs please).
  2. Single spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font.
  3. Use a space in between paragraphs. If applicable, use double spaces between paper sections.
  4. Use 2.54cm Margins (1 inch) on all sides.
  5. Use Canadian spelling.
  6. All articles must be properly cited using Chicago style footnotes.
  7. Remove any sort of personal identifiers (name, ID #, etc) in order to ensure a blind review process.
  8. Do not include page numbers on submissions.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in an e-mail to the editor).

  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word or RTF document file format.

  3. All citations are either in footnotes or endnotes and all sources have been properly attributed.

  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses).

  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines section.

  6. The submission is the author's own original work.
