Journal of Professional, Continuing, and Online Education

Welcome to the Journal of Professional, Continuing, and Online Education (JPCOE).

As an international journal supported by the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education, JPCOE has three main aims:

  • to attract scholarly papers from around the world from writers and teams of writers engaged in the practice and research of professional and continuing education in higher education settings
  • to attract scholarly papers from around the world from writers and teams of writers who use online technologies to support professional and continuing education in higher education settings
  • to establish itself as an academic and practice-based venue that builds a culture of collegiality and scholarship among those who work in the PCO field of professional, continuing, and online education

Submissions are welcome in English or French, and may to made to the following categories: research paper (long), research paper (short), report of practice, and forum piece. Research submissions are expected to follow the traditions and writing conventions of scholarly inquiry. A report of practice is a paper that outlines a novel or uniquely effective practice or program. While rigour is expected in a report of practice, there is greater latitude in how the writer(s) organizes the report. A forum piece is an opportunity to put forward an idea or issue that others may want to respond to or explore in future papers.

JPCOE also publishes book reviews. Reviews are solicited through the list serv of the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education.


Vol 1: Vol 1 Issue 1 (2016)

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Journal of Professional, Continuing, and Online Education (JPCOE), a journal supported by the Canadian Association of Continuing Education (CAUCE). JPCOE replaces CAUCE’s former journal, Journal of Canadian University Continuing Education (CJUCE) which can still be found in archival form at CJUCE.ca.
