Abstract

This paper reports on research focused on understanding and modelling the information behaviour of bioinformatics experts. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with twenty bioinformatics experts, using a task analysis approach. Given a specific scientific problem, the experts used bioinformatics resources in a predictable and relatively consistent pattern.
