Abstract

This paper is a historical and cross-cultural examination of library ethics codes and policy documents from Argentina, France, Egypt, and Japan. This paper examines both the documents themselves as well as the cultures from which they sprung. Common themes as well as unique components of these codes are identified.

Cet article est un examen historique et interculturel des codes de déontologie et des politiques relatives aux documents en vigueur dans des bibliothèques en Argentine, en France, en Égypte et au Japon. On y examine à la fois les documents ainsi que la culture dont ils sont issus. On y relève les thèmes communs ainsi que les éléments uniques.
