This paper is a brief review of the principles and issues related to the ownership, control and regulation of the exploitation of oil and gas resources located on Indian reserves in Canada. It will include a summary of relevant portions of the Indian Act, a summary of the context and content of the Indian Oil and Gas Act and Regulations, a summary of the proposed amendments to the Regulations, a brief discussion of the issue of self government related to this context and a discussion of the concept of the fiduciary responsibility of the Federal Government.Downloads
