Abstract

The author describes that use of the experimental full text search feature on the advanced searching page of arXiv, a preprint server for Physics and Mathematics, by a mathematics faculty member in order to create a database of citations of his work. Topics discussed include two approaches to the use of the feature, the advantages and disadvantages of the arXiv search, and the impact of an unpublished paper. Other subject databases that provide citation counts are cited.
