  • COMPASS: The Student Anthropology Journal of Alberta
    Vol. 3 No. 2 (2023)

    This is the second issue of the third volume of COMPASS: The Student Anthropology Journal of Alberta. This issue includes the undergraduate and MA research of students at the University of Alberta and beyond, and contributions from all four fields of anthropology: linguistic anthropology, biological anthropology, archaeology, and sociocultural anthropology.

    One of the articles in this issue stems from award-winning research that was presented at the 29th Annual Richard Frucht Memorial Lecture Series and Student Conference (2023). Kahlon (2023) was awarded the Second Place Prize for the Undergraduate Podium Presentation Category.

Van Ankum (2018) was awarded the First Place Prize for the Undergraduate Podium Presentation Category, and Goldberg (2018) was awarded the First Place Prize for the Graduate Podium Presentation Category.

This feature includes undergraduate, MA, and PhD research of students at the University of Alberta, MacEwan University, and the University of British Columbia and spans archaeological, physical anthropology, and medical anthropology-related themes.

    Two of the articles in this issue stem from award-winning research that was presented at the 25th Annual Richard Frucht Memorial Lecture Series and Student Conference (2016). Simpson (2017)  was awarded the Second Place Prize for the Undergraduate Podium Presentation Category, and Bishop (2017) was awarded the Second Place Prize for the Graduate Poster Presentation Category.
