  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review) have been followed.

Author Guidelines

All contributions should be in English, and all submissions will be subjected to blind review. Manuscripts should conform to the style of the American Psychological Association (7th edition); footnotes and endnotes should be avoided as much as possible. We will not accept manuscripts that use reference software. For more information on APA style, please refer to University of Alberta Library APA Guidelines. The preferred length of manuscripts will be between 5000-7000 words, excluding references. Manuscripts that are much shorter or greatly exceed this may not be considered. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. In principle, the journal can only accept manuscripts that are original and are not under consideration elsewhere. However, we may accept manuscripts that are related to previous publications, if you point that out to us. Please note that there are no article processing charges (APCs) or any other submission charges for publication in this journal. Authors are expected to include DOIs (digital object identifiers) for those references that have them, in the final version of their manuscripts, before a paper will be accepted for publication. The Journal is registered with CrossRef for the issuing of DOIs, and it is a condition of membership that we provide outbound linking of references in our papers. This enables readers to find the papers to which your references refer easily. We will also issue and register a DOI for your paper when it is published. Authors can look up individual DOIs using the free service provided by CrossRef here: http://www.crossref.org/guestquery/ or for multiple references in a list using the text query interface at http://www.crossref.org/SimpleTextQuery/ (you will have to validate your email address by setting up a free account). When citing DOIs in your reference list, please use the following format as an example: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/S1097-2765(03)00225-9
