Volume 8 Call for Submissions and Mentorship Program

Hello Everyone!

My name is Jewel Chidiebere (she/her) and I am the incumbent Journal Manager for INVOKE and VP of Mentorship and Academic Journal for SUSA. I’m in my second year as a Psychology major and Sociology minor and am very excited to announce a call for Volume 8 of INVOKE.

As some of you already know, Vol. 8 of INVOKE was released last Fall of 2022. Our goal for this semester is to ride the wave and continue to bring forward the great work that the previous journal writers and all the peer reviewers have done and publish this volume in September 2023. INVOKE will still be accepting any new or additional submissions for this volume as well as any already submitted manuscripts from our period in remission from Fall 2022 to date.

As for Vol. 8, submissions will officially open tomorrow March 7, 2023. This date is going to hopefully give everyone ample time, myself included, to peer review, edit and publish this next volume. The deadline will be to follow but expect it to be sometime in April or May. Make sure when you’re submitting to check the Submissions Page under the About section of the INVOKE site for a checklist and tips for your manuscripts.

I also wanted to promote that SUSA has started a mentorship program for sociology students! Hopefully, some of you will consider joining and using it as a way to connect with others in the department. Use this link to join: CONNECT .

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or queries you might have at

Have a lovely semester,
