Abstract

The article focuses on the selection done by a task force of hand-held inventory devices for the Pennsylvania State University Libraries (PSUL) in 2006. The task force was required to look for devices that are supported by the SIRSI Unicorn cataloging system and compatible with PSUL work practices. It relates the first phase of the selection process which involved investigating the feasibility of choosing and acquiring hand-held devices. It offers information on such various devices including cordless hand-held barcode scanners.
