Abstract

The Parliament of Francophone Women Writers was born in 2018 in Orleans under the impetus of Tunisian writer Fawzia Zouari. The initiative is immediately supported by the Orleans City Council and the International Organization of La Francophonie. Referring to the notion of archipelago bequeathed by Édouard Glissant, the Parliament brings together approximately one hundred and thirty members from five continents and representing twenty-four nationalities. These women have decided to take their place in the world. If they are not all professional writers, they know what they have to say. Their fight in favor of women, especially those who do not have the right to speak, makes them a Voice that deserves to be heard. The French language, which they choose as the principal means of reaching the world, is echoed by this Voice, which resonates with strength and intelligence in her anthology, Voix d'écrivaines francophones, the subject of this reflection.

Author Biography

Marie-Rose ABOMO-MAURIN, Parlement des écrivaines francophones

Born in Cameroon, Marie-Rose Abomo-Maurin has been living in Orleans since 1983. Initially a high school teacher in Cameroon, she began teaching in the Orleans area in 1986. After defending her doctoral dissertation at Paris-IV/Sorbonne on French literature (which became "Francophone literature") in 1990 and her HDR at the University of Paris XII in Comparative Literature (2007), she is responsible for the Literature of the South at the AUF (2009-2011). Her numerous missions, teachings, colloquia and conferences have taken her all over Western Europe, North and Sub-Saharan Africa and Brazil. In addition to francophone literature, she is interested in oral literature (especially the epic genre of Central Africa: Mvet), languages and written literature in Fang-Boulou-Beti languages on which she has also written. She is a member of international and national learned societies and a scientific expert for the AUF. She participates in meetings where her skills are required. A teacher, researcher and literary critic, Marie-Rose Abomo-Maurin is also a poet, novelist, playwright, short story writer, translator and prefatory writer. She is a member of the Parliament of Francophone Women Writers and is the General Secretary of the Association. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the RFI and CTV Prize for a dramatic work (La Lettre, 1990), the 2011 Literary Merit Award (Ministry of Higher Education of Cameroon) and the Kadima Prize (OIF) in the translation category (2012)
